The 2nd Translator's Conference of Yishin Norbu Memorial Dharma Translation House

We are pleased to invite you to the 2nd Yishin Norbu Memorial Dharma Translation House Translators Conference, to be held in Lumbini, Nepal, from February 1-2, 2024.
 
The conference is an opportunity for translators of Jigme Phuntsok’s four volumes to come together to share their experiences, discuss challenges, and learn from each other. It will also be a chance to connect with other translators and build relationships.
 
The conference will feature a variety of presentations, workshops, and discussions. Topics will include:
•The challenges of translating the texts
•Effective translation strategies
•Next steps in the translation project

Summary

 
The second Translators’ Conference of Yishin Norbu Memorial Dharma Translation completely successful and spiritually fulfilled, it took place in Kathmandu, Nepal, on February 1 and 2, 2024.
On the first day, Kyabje Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche graced the event, accompanied by the students of H.H Jigme Phuntsok, translators, patrons, and other esteemed guests. The event commenced with a message from Khenchen Namrdol Tsering, followed by Lama Chagkhung Tsewang. Subsequently, Khenchen Tsulnam, Wangtod Tulku Thubten Norbu, Lama Ngodup Dorje, Scholar Ju Tenkyong, Thentrul Lodre Thaye, Tulku Gyatso, and Khenpo Karma Lhabu addressed various topics. These included the life story of H.H Jigme Phuntshok, his enlightened activities worldwide, his teachings, the progress of select translation projects, and the lasting legacy left by Khenchen Jigme Phuntshok globally.
Kyabje Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche then shared words of wisdom with the audience. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to Khentrul Lodro Thaye, Paloma Laundy, and Shamelle Gonzales for their dedicated work in translating the second book of Khenchen Jigme Phuntshok. The first day of the event concluded with a mesmerizing performance of “Lingdro Dechen Rolmo,” ‘Blissful Melody,’ presented by the students of the International Jonang Yogi Wisdom Science School.
On the second day, the translators of the Memorial Dharma Translation House shared their insights, experiences, and the challenges they encountered throughout the translation project. They discussed the direction in which the project is headed, providing valuable perspectives on its future.
The event culminated with esteemed guests offering their knowledge and advice to the translators, creating a platform for the exchange of wisdom and fostering a collaborative spirit among all participants.
The last day Khenchen Namrdol Tsering invited Special Guests and translators for offering lunch at Hotel radisson , lazimpat
In the evening inaugurated Tsewang Foundation and perform Tibetan and Nepali dance.
Future plans:
1. The time and venue for the 3rd Conference of the Yishin Norbu Memorial Dharma Translation House have not been determined yet.
2. Other than the already translated Dzogchen section, other translations will undergo detailed editing by the translators themselves after receiving teachings from a qualified teacher.
3. Subsequently, an editor with proficient knowledge in the Buddha Dharma, especially in Dzogchen teachings, will collaborate with the translators, allowing them ample time to conduct thorough editing.
4. Finally, a qualified student of H.H Jigme Phuntsok, possessing in-depth knowledge of his teachings, will be invited to undertake a comprehensive review of the translations alongside a scholar proficient in the English language. The translations will be considered complete only if they determine that there are no deficiencies or excesses in the meanings of the texts.
