About This Retreat

In May 2024, arranged by H.E. Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, Khenpo Tsewang Rinpoche successfully completed a 100-day retreat at the sacred Asura Cave, located near Pharping in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal.

Asura Cave is a supremely sacred site — where Guru Padmasambhava subdued the evil forces of Nepal through the practice of Vajra Kilaya. In 1990, H.H. Jigme Phuntsok visited this cave and revealed precious treasures associated with Padmasambhava, including the cycle of the Purba Gulkhukma (phur pa mgul khug ma) — the Kila Dagger in the Neck Pouch.

Upon completing the retreat, Khenpo Tsewang Rinpoche returned safely to Melbourne, where students warmly welcomed him at the airport with great joy and devotion.

"At the sacred cave where Guru Rinpoche subdued evil forces, may the merit of this retreat benefit all sentient beings."
